[ Liara had been awaiting this analysis for a while now. Well, it really hadn't been so long, but it felt like ages to Liara. She eagerly replies as soon as glyph alerts her to the reply. ]
Oh, good. Thank you, Mordin, I appreciate you taking time out of your schedule for this. Where would you like to meet?
GOOD THOUGH, he'll wait for her patiently as he loads up more data to analyze, typing quickly on his computer by the time liara arrives. He looks up aaand— ] Liara. Good to see you. Current results procession... 98% complete. [ the truth is almost here ] Will have it in a moment.
[There's something really magical and mysterious about this time of night. The moon is perfect, big and bright and full in the sky, and the stars are reflected so simply on the ocean's surface.
Which means its a perfect time to go out for a swim. Usually, Riku doesn't go out by himself, needing to be accompanied by someone (at the very least, a friend), but over the year, he's proved his maturity. He can handle whatever the sea or the world throws at him. At least, that's what he would like to believe, as a lot of his youthful confidence has faded over time.
So he steers the boat to the dock of the island, the one he practically grew up on playing with his friends, and gets himself ready. Leaving his belongings and a change of clothes on the docks, he dives off, enjoying the cool feel of the water.]
[ it could get really lonely down here, a solitary princess of the sea. At least, that's how Kairi considered herself; she'd been alone for so long, what else could she be but a princess? Princesses always seemed to be so alone in the storybooks she'd found washed up near the shore. They waited for a prince to come and save them. Kairi had never encountered such a man, though, and she wasn't sure if she necessarily wanted one. She was content just swimming the oceans.
But still, it really did get lonely.
Kairi loved nights like this — she thought it might be something biological with her species, being so drawn to the illuminated full moon. She felt something carnal in her stir when she felt its beams, a strong instinct to go to the shoreline and surface for just a short while. Sometimes, she'd hoped to see other people, but she never did.
Until today. When Kairi pulls herself up on a crag, she sees the boy, and immediately lets out a sharp gasp, ducking her head back in so he doesn't see. Of course, to swim back down to the bottom, she has to flap her salmon colored tail above water. Maybe he'd just think it was a weird, big fish.. ]
[That probably would be what he'd think had she done that. Kairi probably would be able to get away without notice, as Riku's a little more preoccupied with actually swimming and diving under the surface than checking to see if something weird was swimming away.
He barely catches her gasp, almost ready to dive in again. What really does catch Riku's attention is the movement in the water and the ripples emanating from the crag. They're too big to be a normal fish or a leaf that just happened to blow into the water. Possibly... a person? But there were no other boats on the dock, so unless it was a stowaway or someone who lost their boat, it couldn't be possible.]
...Hey. [But just in case, he better go check it out.] Anyone there?
[Gundam's not hopelessly lost, of course not! A dark lord never gets lost--getting lost is for silly mortals. He's just...scoping out the next world over which he will rule. That's not confusion written all over his face. That's his thinking face, foolish humans.
And he's definitely not fretting over his hamsters' not being with him.]
Tanaka-san? [ Sonia was just coming around the corner when she found Gundam — her classmate — looking rather displaced. Of course, Sonia knows all too well how that feels. She'd only been in this country for a short time, and despite her oh so extensive research on Japanese culture, she still felt like a koi out of its pond sometimes. Hehe.. She may have laughed at her deeply Japanese reference that only true connoisseurs of the culture would get. ] Do you need some help?
fuukaaaaa and just lemme know if this doesn't work for a prompt haha
[ Another club meeting, another failure. It was a standard day for Fuuka, in that. Still, as Fuuka stared at her formless blob (it was supposed to be a coconut cake, but she added far too much water to the batter), she couldn't help but think about her life in relation to that — how her life, too, had become formless and unpredictable in such a short time.
After a moment, Fuuka realizes she's staring at a cake and that's kinda weird. So, she finally dumps the cake into the trash. ] Mm.. I wonder what I did wrong this time. What do you think, Minako-chan?
Hm... [In all honesty, half the time Minako doesn't catch what happens during the cooking process to make most of Fuuka's food, well. What it is. Everything just seems like it's going well until it doesn't. As she looks at the supposed-to-be cake though, she thinks she has an idea at what happened. She might not be Shinjiro-senpai, but the problem here is fairly obvious.]
Since it's like this, you might've added too much liquid to the cake. It could be not enough flour too, but I'm pretty sure you added the right amount of that. That's a pretty simple problem to fix though! [Just... before the actual baking, whoops...]
[ for simplicity's sake, let's say that Mami and Sonia are in Koriko already. this week's work is happening at a restaurant, and it's just about closing time. it's been a busy day of waitressing for Mami, but she's thankfully had Sonia as a co-worker to help ease the load. it would have been much more difficult without her.
she ushers the last group of customers out of the restaurant, bowing and giving them a smile. ]
Thank you very much. Please, come again!
[ when they're gone, she changes the "open" sign in the window to its "closed" position and lets out a sigh of relief. there was still cleaning to be done, but at least now they could relax. ]
[ sonia had been expecting grand things during her time as a foreign exchange student — but this, working in a bonafide, authentic Japanese restaurant — she could never even imagine something as enriching as this! ]
Ah.. it's been a hella long day! [ sonia says this in a weirdly chipper voice. ] It reminded me of the protagonist in one of my favorite pieces of Japanese animation.. We have been working!! so hard I feel like I've fallen right into it!
[ could it be that sonia works extra hard to exemplify all things anime.. ]
[ she still hasn't gotten completely used to Sonia's... "quirks" regarding Japanese culture, but Mami found them to be an endearing trait. it definitely kept things interesting. ]
I'm glad to see that you're so enthusiastic about it. Keeping a good attitude is the best way to go about things like this.
[ she offers the other girl a smile. ] In any case, I appreciate all the help you've been over the past while. Being one of the only employees here was starting to get difficult, admittedly...
It's very admirable that you were able to run this store almost entirely on your own, Tomoe-san. [ sonia's not sure she could do it, but she had just started her career in customer service, so maybe one day she'd get to mami's level. ] We had many fun customers today, though. I'm glad that we always have lively visitors. Back in my country, many of our citizens will just eat and leave, or linger but chat exclusively with their own party. I suppose it's the same for most European countries. Here, it's much different, and I think I may like the way it works here better!
I think it was due to feeling the responsibility to help out. If we're supposed to be working, then lamenting over the situation didn't seem like it would be productive at all.
[ she collects a few plates, still attentively listening to Sonia. ] I see... I do like the opportunity that interacting with customers gives, but I'm also interested in seeing how European culture takes on the same task. I guess we have a lot to learn from each other, don't we?
[teaching has always come natural to Zelda, perhaps due to her holding the Triforce of Wisdom. it is this same innate power that gave her a dream of meeting Kairi before the latter had suddenly shown up in Hyrule one day. Zelda sensed no hostility from the new arrival; in fact, she felt a sort of kinship with her. it seems the two princesses have more things in common than either of them know at the moment, and Zelda is ever curious.
right now, she's showing Kairi the royal garden, one of her favorite parts of the castle. she hopes she's being a good host; it's been such a long time since she'd last had a personal visitor.]
[ behind every successful woman is a loyal entourage of underdogs complacent in their inferiority -- figuratively and literally speaking. and behind every successful duelist is the rose bride -- figuratively and literally speaking -- who was by extension more or less the same thing. to no one's surprise, nanami currently held the bragging rights to both, by virtue of being, well, a successful woman and duelist. ]
An~nthy... [ with far too much pomp and far too little courtesy, nanami toes her pencil from where she dropped it, hardly an arms distance from her seat. she'd done her fair share of observations on brother to know how this was all supposed to go down -- who said she can't have some fun with it? and if there was a modicum of pettiness involved... as far as nanami can tell, that was the name of the game here. ] ...Look! I dropped my pencil.
