[ it could get really lonely down here, a solitary princess of the sea. At least, that's how Kairi considered herself; she'd been alone for so long, what else could she be but a princess? Princesses always seemed to be so alone in the storybooks she'd found washed up near the shore. They waited for a prince to come and save them. Kairi had never encountered such a man, though, and she wasn't sure if she necessarily wanted one. She was content just swimming the oceans.
But still, it really did get lonely.
Kairi loved nights like this — she thought it might be something biological with her species, being so drawn to the illuminated full moon. She felt something carnal in her stir when she felt its beams, a strong instinct to go to the shoreline and surface for just a short while. Sometimes, she'd hoped to see other people, but she never did.
Until today. When Kairi pulls herself up on a crag, she sees the boy, and immediately lets out a sharp gasp, ducking her head back in so he doesn't see. Of course, to swim back down to the bottom, she has to flap her salmon colored tail above water. Maybe he'd just think it was a weird, big fish.. ]
